Satan: Up Close & Personal

Satan: Up Close & Personal
American consumers spend over five billion dollars on costumes, candy, and decorations for Halloween each year. Is Halloween and scary movies just good clean fun, or is there really a spiritual ream of disembodied spirits? Does the occult have power? The Bible answers these questions and clarifies much about the devil.

In the spiritual realm is the Creator and His angelic messengers. There are also fallen angels or demons. The word devil comes to the English language from the Greek "diabolos," which means "liar, thief, accuser, and enemy." The devil sure is real but he isn't some little red guy with a pointy tale and pitch fork. This idea and, indeed, much Christian doctrine regarding the devil and hell is derived from Mesopotamian folklore and the classic book, "Dante's Inferno." The Bible never says that satan rebelled with a third of the angels or that satan is omnipotent or omnipresent. Satan exists but he's not what most people think.

The word "satan" is an ancient Hebrew word that is now used in the English language. The adversary's name was NOT changed from the Hebrew. Normally in English Bibles, the names for people and places were transliterated and transformed into a new term. For example, the Hebrew "Moshe" is rendered "Moses" and the name "Y'shua" is often changed to "Jesus" in English. Though every other name from the Hebrew scrolls was changed for English Bibles, the translators kept the hideous name of the adversary the same. In Hebrew, he is called "ha satan" which literally means "the accuser" or "the adversary." Ha satan is like a prosecuting attorney that confronts and accuses believers in an effort to belittle them and render them powerless.

The enemy comes against the saints daily to wear them down. He accuses and he lies. He is active in every type of rebellion yet he is NOT responsible for sin. Flip Wilson was wrong when he said, "the devil made me do it." Satan's part is to simply temp, pry, and appeal to man's fleshly desires. He knows that most people are not going to murder, rob banks, and commit heinous sins. So, he comes as an angel of light and then attacks people at their points of weakness.

Though Hollywood portrays the enemy with unlimited power and strength, the Bible shows that deception is ha satan's ONLY power. This is how he attacks. He comes as a harmless idea or action and then misleads the masses. He deceived Adam and Eve in the garden and hasn't stopped since. Deception is tricky because a person doesn't know that he is being deceived. The Scriptures declare that ha satan has deceived the entire world - including ALL Christians. 1 John 5:19 says that the "whole world is under the influence of the evil one." This deception reaches the Baptists, Lutherans, and Pentecostals. Masons and Muslims are deceived as well. The enemy has deceived the entire world regarding his power and faith in general.

It doesn't take holy water or a powerful exorcism to be free from demons and deception. It only takes the words of truth. The adversary's grip is loosened by the truth. The Savior said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Don't be deceived, Satan is real and his power is in deluding the world. Deception ends as a person seeks to know and live the truth. "Submit yourselves therefore to YHWH. Resist ha satan, and he will flee from you," James 4:7.

Christians SHOULD celebrate Halloween!!!

Every year around this time many people of faith struggle with the issue of Halloween. The implications of death that surround this holiday make it a curious mixture for those who proclaim the gospel. Many believers decide not to celebrate this festival because of the holiday's glorification of witchcraft. Some churches hold harvest festivals as a type of compromise and other groups simply see no problem with costumes and fun. Does Halloween have its history in druidic worship? Yes. Does the Bible speak against believers acting like pagans? Yes. Is Halloween a high holy day of Satanism and Wicca? Yes again. "Don't participate in the things these people do. For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from YHWH*, and your behavior should show it! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true," Ephesians 5:7-12. (*YHWH is the ancient Hebrew name of the Almighty given to Moses in Exodus 3 and found throughout English Bibles as the capitalized LORD.)

Through the years, Halloween has evolved from a day of satanic worship into a secular celebration of sugar. Ancient customs that were once used to conjure up spirits have been adopted by the modern world. Dressing up children for trick-or-treating or decorating with witches and ghosts may be fun, but such actions are inherently immoral. "Abstain from all appearance of evil," 1Thessalonians 5:22. Regardless of these facts, perhaps ALL Christians should celebrate Halloween. Maybe every church should encourage their members to have a merry time on All Hallows eve. This is of course, unless Christians are willing to forsake all pagan holidays and practices. With false worship and paganism, it's all or nothing. Churches shouldn't ban Halloween if they to allow the recognition of the god Mithras on December 25 or the dying of eggs on Easter.

The truth is that just as Halloween has its roots in paganism, so does Sunday worship, Christmas, Easter and most holidays on the Christian calendar. If a person doesn't party on October 31st because of the day's pagan history, then is that same person willing to forsake other pagan festivities? The only difference between the dangers of Halloween and Christmas is that Halloween is easily distinguished as evil. Both holidays originated in non-Christian societies and retain unbiblical practices. The Savior never celebrated Halloween or Christmas, and would no doubt abstain from such practices if He walked the earth today.

About Halloween the Bible says, "you shall not learn to follow the abominations of the surrounding nations. There shall not be found among you anyone... who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to YHWH," Deuteronomy 18:9-11.
About Christmas, Jeremiah 10:2 says, "Do not learn the ways of the pagans, for the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter."

The evils of Halloween are easy to recognize while the pagan past of other customs are hidden in plain sight for those with eyes open to the truth. It's not easy to ignore the trick-or-treators or to abstain from believing in a magical overgrown elf but such an effort is noteworthy if it is done out of respect to the Biblical faith. Christians should celebrate Halloween (and Easter and Christmas) or they should forsake all other pagan rituals.

Are you a haunted house?

By Brother Rabbi Dani’el Rendelman

MEMBER OF B'NAI YAHSHUA SYNAGOGUES WORLDWIDE

Stories of haunted houses have fascinated people for years. The idea of ghosts and goblins running wild in their former home seems to enthrall the curious in everyone.

Hollywood has capitalized on this idea with numerous movies including Poltergeist and Rose Red. And there are even some historical homes promoted as supposedly having ghosts living in them. The spook house in your hometown may be scary, but that is not our subject.

Nor does this teaching talk of the real demons rebuked by the Savior during His earthly ministry. The Newer Testament records the Messiah casting out demons on many occasions, so we know that the dark side does exist. Yet, there are also demon-like forces that perhaps are more dangerous than real disembodied spirits. These are ghouls of emotions that haunt the human soul.

Inside believers and unbelievers alike are the ghosts of anger and fear. These twin evil powers manifest when bad choices are made or when emotions are allowed to run free. Many people today live in a haunted house full of demons that they, themselves, have created. The relationship problems people face can usually be traced back to the ghost of fear or the goblin of anger.

Don't think that this is someone else's issue. Don't visit another haunted house and point the finger at your spouse, your boss, your enemy, or your friend. Fear and anger haunt everyone. Search your mind and ask yourself if your soul is a haunted house OR a holy house.

The Bible declares that the believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit, or “Ruach HaKadosh” in Hebrew. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you? You are not your own; you were bought at a price," 1 Corinthians 6:19. The believer’s life should be full of peace, love, joy, and victory. Our house - our life - should not be a spook house run amuck by fear and anger. Yet it often times is. When choices are made to satisfy the lusts of the flesh, the Holy Spirit is kicked to the side and evil spirits are invited to oppress. Anger and fear manifest as yelling at children, being angered easily, worrying about future, or walking around offended at something.

Anger and fear are not forced upon us. These emotional attitudes are chosen. Scary movies suggest that a vampire can’t enter someone’s home unless the vampire has been invited inside. Each time the door is opened to fear or anger; these vampire-like problems are invited in. For example, fear is welcomed whenever you question “What if?”

This is what fear does. It questions and quivers against the believer’s faith. Fear is an emotion that the adversary will use against you. It grips the heart and stops the saint from walking in joy. What exactly is fear? If you can spell fear then you can define it. Fear is: False – Evidence – Appearing – Real. Fear makes you think that life will only get worse, you are all alone, and that nothing can help your situation. Fear feeds the feelings of anxiety and apprehension. This type of fear is NOT of YHWH. “For YHWH has not given us the Ruach (spirit) of fear; but of power, and of ahava (love), and of a sound mind,” Timtheous Bet -- 2 Timothy 1: 7. (YHWH is the ancient Hebrew name of the Almighty given to Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3. This is his “name forever unto all generations.” This four lettered Hebrew name is often hidden behind the capitalized terms LORD and GOD in English Bibles.)

If you are fearful, anxious, worrisome, or afraid then understand that these feeling do not originate with the Holy One. These are false fears that come from the fleshly mind and the adversary. This type of fear is not from YHWH. You should not fear what life throws at you. You should fear YHWH. “You shall fear YHWH, and serve Him, and shall swear by His Name,” -- Devarim / Deuteronomy 6: 13. It is a commandment and a directive to fear YHWH. Fear belongs to Him only. The place for fear is before YHWH only. Horror comes as this fear of YHWH is traded for a fear of whatever.

Fear paralyzes its victim like the venomous snake bite of a cobra. It is dangerous and deadly. And like the anti-venom to a snake bite, it takes fear to conquer fear. To break the power of fear, one must turn the fear from things and place it unto YHWH. Consider Adam and learn.

After Adam originally sinned in the Garden of Eden, Adam does something really strange. He does something very childish. Out of fear, He hides. “And YHWH called to Adam, and said to him, where are you? And he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the eytz (tree) that I commanded you that you should not eat?” Beresheeth / Genesis 3: 10, 11.

Just think about what happened to Adam for a minute. Here is a man, now hiding in the bushes that had “walked with YHWH in the cool of the day”. Why would he be hiding? Adam recognized that he did something wrong and that this, most-certainly-known disobedience brought about the emotion of fear. As a child who had been caught red-handed, Adam hides from His Father.

Now get this, Adam wasn’t afraid of snakes. He wasn’t even scared of a talking snake that had tempted him to sin. But, Adam was terrified of the consequences of his actions. This type of fear is good. Adam hid because he recognized his fall from his exalted state and knew that a holy and awesome Mighty One would most-certainly know about the situation. He wasn’t hiding because he got caught sinning BUT because of what sin did to his relationship with YHWH. Additionally, he recognized that YHWH would be displeased, for he and the woman had done precisely what they'd been forbidden! To Adam, fear was more than just reverence and awe; Adam was hiding because he had a reason to be scared to death! He was terrified! Adam, who had a perfect, unhindered, relationship with YHWH, was now hiding because of his sin! Like Adam, we, as children of Abba YHWH, know when we are caught. We ought to fear our heavenly Father more!

To fear YHWH is to possess an emotional trait equal to a leash on a dog. The fear of YHWH allows us to go and do as our Master allows. Then, our leash will be tugged if we go a little too far on our own. Our leash is pulled back when we don’t see the impending danger of our actions or if we cross a dangerous line. This is the type of fear we need! The problem is that most people trade the fear of YHWH for the fear of life. Instead of putting fear where it goes, before YHWH, we place it before our problems. We fear failure. We fear success. We fear just getting by. We change His word and many times choose fear over faith.

In the beginning when YHWH created the world he said, “It is good.” YHWH declared all of creation good, or “tov” in Hebrew. According to YHWH everything in the entire universe is tov. Fear, on the other hand, says “it is not good.” Fear says, “You can’t do it.” Fear questions “what if?” Fear argues with YHWH and stands in opposition to His word.

So, how does a person combat fear? It doesn’t take an exorcism to kick fear out. Instead simply watch yourself. When you feel it, identify it, and then reject it. YHWH has not given you a spirit of fear. If you are afraid or jittery, those emotions are not from YHWH. Take that fear and give it to Him. Pray about your situation and ask Him to intervene. Perfect love casts out all false fear. Understand that fear belongs to YHWH only. You should be cautious when you become afraid of anything other than YHWH. When the stomach tightens or goose bumps run up the back, just ask yourself, “where is this emotion from?” When you feel afraid, identify this emotion as false fear, and then reject it. Choose faith over fear and don’t allow this ghost to haunt your house.

Fear has a spooky twin that is just as dangerous. This evil emotion is anger. Nothing ruins more relationships than anger. To put it bluntly, anger uncontrolled is like a werewolf unleashed. Anger is as ugly as a half man half wolf. It has a dangerous bite. And the werewolf of anger causes pain, pain, and more pain.

We are told that a werewolf passes its curse to others through the bite. When a werewolf bites someone that person also becomes a monster. Anger is no different. It usually starts with one person and then bites another. Anger is usually passed until it explodes

When a person acts out in anger and bites their spouse or a friend, one is sure to be bitten back. This is the essence of anger. It is fueled by resentment, bitterness, rudeness, jealousy, and misunderstandings. It turns our nice glances into glares and our friends into enemies. The struggle is that anger is a natural human emotion. Anger is part of the human experience. Everyone must deal with this demon. Anger can be expressed in a righteous way. Yet more times than not, anger is a monster that must be bound with chains and not allowed to break loose. Anger must be controlled or it manifests itself worse than a werewolf during a full moon. (Does this resemble someone you know?)

Our Messiah told us to “be angry and sin not.” There is way to control this emotion! Anger does not have to run wild and hurt others. The silver bullet that kills evil anger is honesty. When you begin to boil over, be honest about the situation. Be honest with yourself about how you feel. Be honest with the person that offended you. Be honest with YHWH about your struggle to walk in peace.

First, it’s important to be honest with yourself about the situation. Don’t blow up in rage. Stop and think about what really happened before jumping into a fight. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger AND don’t rush to work out your anger. When made mad, take time to think before you speak. Why are you really mad? What was done or said that offended you? Are you just being too sensitive? Is this really an issue to be angry about? Perhaps write down how you feel so that you can express your position without yelling. Would the Savior be upset about this same issue?

Be honest with the person you are angry with. Go to that person after you have calmed your emotions. Let some time pass from the second you are offended so that you won’t react in angrily. Don’t yell and raise your voice. Think about what made you mad and ask the other person about it. Listen to what is said. Don’t automatically think of how to combat the person’s point of view. “Everyone should be quick to listen. Slow to speak and should not become angry easily,” James / Ya’acov. The best way to beat anger is to talk about it.

Be honest with YHWH and ask Him for help. Anger isn’t easy to control. Just ask anyone that has been bitten with its terrible bite. Pray about this problem and confess this sin to YHWH. Memorize verses on peace and love. Step back and pray when confronted with another sticky situation. Take your focus off what angers you and put that focus on the positive aspects in your life.

Left unbridled fear and anger can turn a person’s soul from a holy place into a haunted house. Saints are the temple of the Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKadosh. Fear and anger try to destroy the spiritual temple of the soul. Fear can be combated by being sensitive to its symptoms, identifying it, and then rejecting it. Replace false fear for devotion to YHWH. Another monster that rages is anger. Anger too can be controlled. Answer anger with honesty and reconcile differences without fighting. The issue at hand is simple. Will you allow your emotions to control you or will you control your emotions? These ghouls are real. Anger and fear haunt more people than trick-or-treaters. Don’t let your soul be haunted by these demons. Strive to make your body be a holy house, not a haunted house.

Additional links on Halloween

In responce to a friend of mine's questions regarding additional resources on the pagan Halloween and it's origins; here are some additional links.

The scriptures plainly teach the "appointed times" of YHVH. Participation in anything in addition to these is adding to His word.
There is a serious penalty for adding to His word!

Hope these links help and answer your questions!

What's wrong with Halloween?

What’s wrong with Halloween?

Halloween has become an issue among followers of the Messiah. Long considered harmless fun, many are now questioning its history, nature, influence and fruit. The revitalization of Satanism and Witchcraft and their obvious association with Halloween has caused followers of Messiah to wonder whether they should participate in it at all. There is no denying the bizarre and occultic nature of Halloween decorum (certainly witches, devils, ghouls, monsters, vampires and ghosts are not Messianic in character!) But in spite of that, some followers of Messiah defend their participation in the holiday asserting their “liberty” in Messiah from the bondage of “legalism”, or shrugging it off as innocent fun. Many assemblies see the whole thing as evil and will have nothing to do with the celebration whatsoever. Others see no harm in it and participate fully, with costume parties, Halloween decorations and trick-or-treat. Still others try to find a “middle-of-the-road” approach, allowing trick-or-treat and masquerades, but as “Bible Characters” instead of demonic and occult figures.
What’s wrong with Halloween? And, what should be the attitude of the conscientious follower of the Messiah toward it? Is it harmless, or is it sinister? The facts presented below should help you to answer that question once and for all.

1. The Halloween celebration is thoroughly rooted in Paganism and the Occult.
History traces it back to the ancient religion of the Druids, a religion so evil that even Rome forbad its practice. The AMERICAN PEOPLES ENCYCLOPEDIA explains: “The origin of Halloween customs antedate the apostles. The Druids, members of pagan orders in Britain, Ireland and Gaul, held a celebration on October 31st, the eve of the festival of Samhain. It was a night of ghosts and fairies, in which bonfires were built and futures were foretold and witches rode through the sky.”
Superstitions linking cats with reincarnation made them special objects of notice on Halloween. Unquestionably, the holiday had it’s origin with the pagan Druids, only they called it the “Festival of Samhain-the lord of the dead.” Samhain was nothing more or less than a demon (a demon spirit of death at that, or perhaps he may have been HaSatan himself!) who was given special homage on Halloween. This is where the emphasis on death comes from on that night. Death symbols such as coffins, tombstones, skeletons, skulls and crossbones, ghosts, mummies and graveyards are common Halloween decorations.
Numerous legends surround the holiday, but two significant things supposedly occurred on that night:
First, it was believed that the dead would rise out of their graves and wander the countryside, trying to return to the homes where they formerly lived. Frightened villagers tried to appease these wandering spirits by offering them gifts of fruit and nuts. If not placated, villagers feared that the spirits would kill their flocks or destroy their crops or property. This is the origin of the present day “trick-or-treat!” It’s a custom born out of superstition, and pagan superstition at that!
Furthermore, it is a blasphemous perversion of the Messianic belief in the Resurrection. In Messianic Judaism, the righteous dead are resurrected in an eternal, immortal body. In Druidism, the dead are raised as horrifying creatures of the night, hideous monsters, decaying skeletons, vampires, etc. They receive not eternal bodies, but grotesque ones; not immortal bodies, but inhuman ones.
Second, Samhain was the supreme night of Demonic jubilation. This was a celebration of the beginning of winter and darkness, as day-light grew noticeably shorter, and nights lengthier. The hordes of hell would roam the earth in a wild celebration of darkness and death, all in honor of Samhain! Pity the poor mortal forced to travel on such a night! The only thing the superstitious people knew to do to protect themselves on such an occasion was to masquerade as one of the demonic horde, and hopefully blend in unnoticed among them! This is the origin of Halloween masquerading as devils, imps, ogres, witches and other demonic creatures.
The question is, should followers of Messiah Yahshua adopt such practices? Can we borrow the pagan customs and superstitions of ancient heathens and “convert” them? The scriptures are NOT silent on the subject:

Jer 10:2 Thus says Yahveh, "Don't learn the ways of the heathen nations, and don't be dismayed at the signs of the sky; for the nations are dismayed at them.
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the peoples are vanity…

Deut 18:9 When you are come into the land which Yahveh your Elohim gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Deut 18:10 There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,
Deut 18:11 or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deut 18:12 For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahveh: and because of these abominations Yahveh your Elohim does drive them out from before you.
Deut 18:13 You shall be perfect with Yahveh your Elohim.
Deut 18:14 For these nations, that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahveh your Elohim has not allowed you so to do.

Ephesians 5:11 declares,
“Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.”

2. Halloween glorifies HaSatan.
When America and the world celebrates the powers of darkness by masquerading as evil creatures or decorating our homes, businesses or other buildings with occult symbols, Satanic power is glorified. While you may have participated “all in fun,” be assured, Halloween is serious business for Satanists and Witches.
Anyone familiar with witchcraft would tell you that there are certain rituals and spells that can only be cast on Halloween night. That is the night when the “veil” believed to separate the living from the dead is thought to be the thinnest, and futures are easier and more accurately foretold by diviners. (As a former priest in the Church of Satan, I can testify to this fact)
Those who oppose Messiah are known to organize on Halloween to observe satanic rituals, to cast spells, to oppose congregations of believers and families, to perform sacrilegious acts, and even to offer blood sacrifices to HaSatan. Last year, newscasters in numerous cities warned their listeners to guard their animals on Halloween night. Dogs and cats are thought to be the most often sacrificed animals on Halloween, and many S.P.C.A. centers will not allow black cats to be adopted until after Halloween. In rural communities, it is not uncommon for farmers to awake to find the mutilated remains of their farm animals (cows, calves, chickens, even horses) that were ritualistically slaughtered in Satanic sacrifices. The practices that accompany such sacrificial rites are almost too revolting to believe-the drinking of animal (or human) blood and urine, the digestion of entrails and organs, orgiastic rituals, substance abuse, and something becoming more frighteningly common across the U.S.-human sacrifice. The 700 CLUB interviewed several people a few years ago (most of which were teenagers) who actually participated in or witnessed human sacrifices while involved in Satanism. No one scoffs at such stories anymore, as police departments around the country have had to scurry to develop a whole new field of investigation dealing with the gruesome reality of Satanic sacrifices.
Isn’t it sad that while Satanists, Witches, Occultists and Police are taking Halloween very seriously, many followers of Messiah protest our “spoiling all of the fun for the children,” by urging them not to participate in it?

3. Halloween treats Occultism as “Harmless.”
When followers of Messiah participate in Halloween, it sends a message to children that Witchcraft, Demonism, Satanism, and the Occult is something fun, entertaining and harmless. It gives the false impression that what is actually lethal, is innocuous! It’s the spiritual equivalent of painting a loaded gun to look like a toy and giving it to a child to play with!
In another testimony, one man said that it was while he was out trick-or-treating on Halloween night as a boy that he had a profound psychic experience that led him on an occult odyssey that kept him bound and oppressed for dozens of years! Halloween participation led him into deeper forms of occultism, until he was swallowed by it.
Followers of Yahshua, we betray others and deceive ourselves if we consider this celebration a harmless or innocent one. It is more deadly than a rattlesnake, and Elohim says such things are an abomination!

Lev 18:24 "'Don't defile yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.
Lev 18:25 The land was defiled: therefore I punished its iniquity, and the land vomitted out her inhabitants.
Lev 18:26 You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you;
Lev 18:27 (for all these abominations have the men of the land done, that were before you, and the land became defiled);
Lev 18:28 that the land not vomit you out also, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
Lev 18:29 "'For whoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.
Lev 18:30 Therefore you shall keep my charge, that you do not practice any of these abominable customs, which were practiced before you, and that you do not defile yourselves with them: I am Yahveh your Elohim.'"

4. It is the appearance of Evil.
The scriptures say, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thess. 5:22)
Who can deny that virtually all the symbols of Halloween are evil? Witches, monsters, ogres, vampires, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, devils and demons all portray evil! On the other hand, followers of Messiah are called to be “followers (Greek: imitators) of Elohim” (Eph. 5:1), and “lights” to a sin darkened world. How can we justify our masquerading as creatures of darkness in the light of the Scriptures? And if our houses and tabernacles are dedicated to Yahveh and are to elevate Messiah, how do we justify decorating them with demonic and occult symbols?
Virtually all of the common Halloween decorations represent something Demonic, Occultic or something Yahveh calls “abomination.” For instance:
The “Jack-o-lantern” is the ancient symbol of a dammed soul.
The “black cat” has long been associated with Witchcraft and numerous superstitions are still connected to it. It was also a symbol of reincarnation.
Witches and Witchcraft are a dominant theme of the holiday, but are an abomination to Yahveh!

Exo 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Deu 18:9 When you are come into the land which Yahveh your Elohim gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Deu 18:10 There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,
Deu 18:11 or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deu 18:12 For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahveh: and because of these abominations Yahveh your Elohim does drive them out from before you.
Deu 18:13 You shall be perfect with Yahveh your Elohim.
Deu 18:14 For these nations, that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahveh your Elohim has not allowed you so to do.

Lev 18:24 "'Don't defile yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.
Lev 18:25 The land was defiled: therefore I punished its iniquity, and the land vomitted out her inhabitants.
Lev 18:26 You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you;
Lev 18:27 (for all these abominations have the men of the land done, that were before you, and the land became defiled);
Lev 18:28 that the land not vomit you out also, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
Lev 18:29 "'For whoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people.
Lev 18:30 Therefore you shall keep my charge, that you do not practice any of these abominable customs, which were practiced before you, and that you do not defile yourselves with them: I am Yahveh your Elohim.

Even the “trick-or-treat” is a threat! It’s nothing less than extortion! “You either give me a treat or I’ll play a trick on you.”

Halloween Destruction
Vandalism and wanton disregard for the property of others is common on Halloween night, as even normally well behaved children are driven by unseen forces to destructive behavior. Police officials everywhere report great increases in such activities at Halloween. Worse yet are the horrifying accounts of poisoned candy and fruits booby trapped with razor blades, needles, drugs, etc. Such threats are so real that many hospitals offer free X-Rays of Halloween treats in order to help prevent children from being harmed. Who but HaSatan could inspire such monstrous actions?

5. It is Disobedience to Yahveh!
Yahveh repeatedly forbids His children’s participation in such demonic activities, as the following scriptures attest:

Exo 7:11 Then Par`oh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their enchantments.
Exo 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aharon's rod swallowed up their rods.
Exo 7:13 Par`oh's heart was hardened, and he didn't listen to them; as Yahveh had spoken.

Exo 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Lev 19:26 "'You shall not eat any meat with the blood still in it; neither shall you use enchantments, nor practice sorcery.
Lev 19:31 "'Don't turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don't seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahveh your Elohim.

Lev 20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Lev 20:27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
1Ch 10:13 So Sha'ul died for his trespass which he committed against Yahveh, because of the word of Yahveh, which he didn't keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire [thereby],
1Ch 10:14 and didn't inquire of Yahveh: therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Yishai.
2Ki 21:5 He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the house of Yahveh.
2Ki 21:6 He made his son to pass through the fire, and practiced sorcery, and used enchantments, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he worked much evil in the sight of Yahveh, to provoke him to anger.
Isa 2:6 For you have forsaken your people, the house of Ya`akov, because they are filled from the east, with those who practice divination like the Pelishtim, and they clasp hands with the children of foreigners.
Jer 27:9 But as for you, don't you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Bavel:
Jer 27:10 for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish.
Zec 10:2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
Mal 3:5 I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and don't fear me," says Yahveh, commander of Armies.

Act 8:9 But there was a certain man, named Shimon, who had previously practiced magic in the city, and amazing the nation of Shomron, said he was someone great;
Act 8:10 to whom they all gave heed, from small to great, saying, "This one is called the Great Power of god."
Act 8:11 And they gave heed to him because he had for a sufficient time amazed them with his magic.
Act 16:16 And it happened that as we were going to the place of prayer a certain maidservant, having a spirit of Python, met us, who was bringing her lords much employment by fortunetelling.
Act 19:19 And many of those who practiced the curious arts brought their books together and were burning them in the sight of all; and they counted up the value of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Gal 5:16 But I say, walk in the Spirit, and you will not carry out the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. For these are opposed to one another, to prevent you from doing what you want.
Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under Torah.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: immorality, uncleanness, licentiousness,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 envying, drunkenness, orgies and wild partys, and things like these, of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who commit such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

2Ti 3:8 And just as Yanis and Yambres set themselves against Moshe, so these men also set themselves against the truth, men of corrupt mind, not standing the test as concerns the faith.
Rev 21:8 "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

A careful examination of these scriptures reveals Yahveh’s unreserved condemnation of all who participate in any occult activity.
What’s wrong with Halloween? Everything about it is wrong! It does not have even one single redeeming virtue. It is a demon inspired, devil glorifying occult festival! Those who love Yahshua Messiah should have nothing to do with it!

Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen…
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain…

Deu 18:9 When thou art come into the land which Yahveh thy Elohim giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Rom 13:12 The night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Eph 5:11 And do not have fellowship in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them

1Th 5:5 for you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we are not of night nor of darkness.

2Co 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers; for what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
2Co 6:15 Or what accord has Messiah with B’liya’al? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
2Co 6:16 Or what agreement has the Temple of Elohim with idols? For we are the Temple of the living Elohim; just as Yahveh said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR ELOHIM, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
2Co 6:17 "'THEREFORE, COME OUT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THEM, AND BE SEPARATED,' SAYS YAHVEH. 'AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU.

What Should Our Position Be?
Clearly, we should have nothing to do with the Halloween celebration whatsoever. If followers of Messiah assemble on Halloween it should be to worship, sing, praise, pray, intercede, wage Spiritual warfare and pull down demonic strongholds in Spirit and in truth. Under no circumstance should we compromise with this celebration or attempt to imitate the world in any manner. It should not be observed as any kind of a festival or “party” (masquerades, apple-bobbing, games, treats, etc.) but rather as a time to wage spiritual warfare and be separate from the world.
The follower of Messiah should not fear Halloween or any of the powers of darkness, for we have authority over them.

Mar 16:17 "And these signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with other tongues;
Mar 16:18 "they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Luk 10:19 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall harm you in any way.”
2Ti 1:7 For Yahveh hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2Co 2:11 Lest HaSatan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Some accuse me of being “legalistic” for doing so, but I have forsaken this pagan celebration altogether. Perhaps you should consider doing the same.

Yahveh gave us His appointed times, seasons, and feasts. Halloween is not one of them!
He must be worshipped in spirit and in truth according to His word!
