Emergency Appeal For Israel! From: Joel ChernoffThis letter is a shofar's call to action. For those of you who want to stand with Israel in a tangible way during this time of great stress and warfare in Israel...this is your chance. The Joseph Project is right now coordinatating with The Ministry of Welfare and moving our delivery truck into the war zone with over 1200 toys. Please read Jo Kaplan's letter below and pray for our truck driver Misha who will be dodging Katyushas and making the deliveries to children in bomb shelters all day tomorrow throughout the northern part of Israel. These are exciting but dangerous times. We have a prophetic opportunity to make a difference when our people need it most."He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps."Joel ChernoffChairman/Joseph Project======================================================From Jo Kaplan (Executive Director/Israel)Re:
Emergency Help and New JP emergency serviceDate: 7/17/06Dear Joel,Most friends of the MJAA Joseph Project have heard of the situation now in Israel with Katyushas falling and the army calling up reserves so it can defend effectively on two fronts. As you know, hundreds of thousands of Israelis in the north have been in bomb shelters for days and that is a very hard on everybody especially the children. We know our friends wish that there was something they could do to help.I have spoken today to the Operations Officer in the main office in Jerusalem of Israel\'s Ministry of\n Welfare. We talked about the toys the JP had given to them a few years ago. These were stockpiled in the event of an emergency such as this. The ministry of Welfare will be distributing these toys to crying and panicking children in the north.I asked her what else the Joseph Project could do, now, to help. She asked for more toys, because it was not enough for these population figures. It just so happens that Jezreel International had shipped to the Joseph Project Israel -- Hasbro Memory games, new in their wrappers which we have attached Hebrew translation. We were able to immediately offer the 1200 that are left. She has asked that we truck these up to nine Welfare offices in the north, which our warehouse manager is willing immediately to do (even though he is taking his life into his hands). She also needs\n more toys to use for the children that simply could not handle the situation or that are in areas that have been bombed repeatedly and are being moved to the south into youth camps. These children are distraught with the bombing and with the move and are traumatized. These games would be a distraction for them, to put their minds on something different.",1]

Needless to say, the Ministry of Welfare needs more toys than these at this time. We are contacting all of our partner charities throughout the world and asking them to ship as many toys and other emergency goods, listed below by the Ministry of Social Welfare, as possible. In addition, the Joseph Project is now developing a "rapid reaction capability" to help the Ministry of Welfare in times like this. We are calling this new and specialized JP effort RESCUE\n (Rapid Emergency Supplies for Catastrophic Urgencies). I am calling all of our international suppliers and asking them to send whatever they can now! Bill Will is calling our suppliers in North America with the same request. We will be stockpiling these supplies in our Nitzanei Oz warehouse so that the Ministry of Welfare can count on the JP in the future whenever an emergency like this arise. These are the items the Ministry of Welfare has requested RESCUE assemble:new soft toysnew gamesflashlights\n with batteriesrolls of new garbage bagsnew buckets with lidstoilet paperpaper platespaper towelsplastic utencilsscissorslatex glovesFirst aid kits which include bandages, gauze pads, gauze bandages, bandaids, etc.Joel, these things are already needed now. We have no idea how much we can quickly assemble. As we have discussed...we are setting a goal of 100 stockpiled containers of emergency aid as described by the Ministry of Welfare. What we need to cover the cost for these containers is around ",1]

What we need to cover the cost for these containers is around
$500,000 or $5,000 per container. Each container handles 15 - 20 tons of aid at an average value of $250,000. 100 containers\n represents around $25,000,000 worth of emergency aid.The sooner we can gather these items, and obtain the funds to move them to Israel, the sooner we can begin to help Israel in the way that she desperately needs it.
